Disability SA

What a freaking mess!!
Disability SA ...who exactly runs this?
Answer: Well, let's put it this way, nobody knows what the next person is doing. Passing the buck is an understatement.
Why: Am I so disgruntled? My darling son who was a client of Disability SA had an unfortunate accident in January. Spent 3 months in the Royal Adelaide Hospital (receiving excellent care), but because of his 'client' status was not admitted to the Hampstead Rehabilitation Centre after discharge from the RAH.
Result: Sub Standard care in a facility which at best 'maintains' the clients. MAINTAINS!!
heartbreaking....he seems to be deteriorating.
Catch 22: I can't find another facility for him (at this stage)
Tetraplegic: Yes my son is now a tetraplegic. His potential upon leaving the RAH was encouraging, but since he was a client of Disability SA he wasn't given the opportunity to benefit from intensive rehab at Hampstead Rehabilitation Centre.
Consequences: NO physio...except for the Physiotherapist HE is paying for to visit once a week. $80 per session. The staff do not attempt even minor daily physio....so he is becoming more stiff and (crippled).
Services: What Services? No in-house physio because she is busy elsewhere. Speech Pathologist once a week to assist with his swallowing (he is on a PEG Feed), but has ONE sloppy cup of muck at lunch time. This was supposed to be reviewed, but SP on holidays for 1 month.
Communication: This word is NOT in Disability SA's vocabulary
Prognosis: Let's maintain this young man in a state of slow deterioration, so he HAS to stay at THIS facility...we get more funding that way!!
